Born and raised in Fort Beaufort, Eastern Cape, Charlie attended the Winterberg Agricultural High School.
In 1995 he started his career at Standard Bank Alice as a teller. This was just a starting block as he quickly moved on to Waste Clerk and finally Managers Clerk. Upon joining he started studying at the Institute of Bankers and later completed a Certificate of Banking with UNISA (NQF5) and then also finished his RE5 exams. Through all the learning and hard work, he got qualified as an Assessor for Recognition of Prior Learning through Bankseta.
In 1997 he joined FNB but it was in 1998 that he made the best decision yet, as it was the year that he married his wife, Nicola. They do not have any children, but many four-legged kids. A Bullterrier named Layla and Giepie their (female) cat bring joy to their house, even though they do not get along at all.
He resigned from FNB and started his own business called Agri Fin Solutions in 2023 due to the complexity of Credit Applications to banks these days. An asset to his job as an estate agent at Agrisell.
In his spare time, he used to play golf, but as his best game became the 19th hole, he decided that walking this much was not worth it and thus golfing came to an end. Now he enjoys playing Lawn Bowls and being a part of the online gaming community. Combined with that he loves hunting and old-school metal music. Above all, he praises his wife for 25 years of marriage.
