The name is Engelbrecht, Mariza Engelbrecht; Special Agent 004 with a license to sell houses.
Mariza was born on a cold morning in June in the rural town of Bethlehem in the Free State province. She has always been an adventure seeker, which led her to spread her wings to the North-West student town, Potchefstroom. There she managed a guesthouse with her husband, Leon. The guesthouse was doing well so she opened a real estate company, specializing in student accommodation.
Wanting their three daughters to experience small-town living was always a dream and after 8 years in Potchefstroom, an opportunity to run the craft beer brewery and an on-site restaurant in Greyton in the Western Cape presented itself.
However, after three years in the hospitality industry, the pullback to real estate became too strong and she joined Agrisell where “the professionalism of Agrisell stands out for me.”
She specializes in residential properties in Greyton. “When you move to Greyton, you have to like the person you move with. You are buying a lifestyle, not just a house.”
To play an active role in the community is very important and she is involved with the local school and supports the town in all its many festivals and fairs. Mariza is a very creative person and enjoys pottery. She also knows the location of every charity shop in the Overberg and fondly describes herself as a “gatherer”.
She describes the process of selling houses as one big puzzle that she can’t wait to solve. “It is rather like matchmaking – to find a first home for a young couple or older people searching for their retirement home.”
The weirdest request she ever had? “A prospective buyer asked me for some alone time in a garden as he needed to talk to a tree. He then proceeded to hug the tree for some 10 minutes, but the tree advised him not to buy the house…”
Mariza is grateful to be part of the Agrisell family and looks forward to the future.
