From teacher to translator and horses to wine, Margaret Louw has added ‘property agent’ to her extensive portfolio.
After studying at Pretoria and Stellenbosch University, Margaret’s career included a five-year stint as a teacher-librarian and working as a translator at Parliament. Her late husband bought a law firm in Robertson where she took up freelance editing and translating while raising their two children Adriana and NS; all while being actively involved as a volunteer in social welfare and the arts in their community.
A call for help from a friend in the horse industry led her to become the financial manager at a thoroughbred stud farm. This role included organizing marketing events and drafting presentations on farm acquisitions. Those tasks, as well as the exposure to the challenges of farming, are what prepared her for what was to follow in the world of property sales.
Even though she ‘retired’ in 2021 it was only a transition to reconnect with the community, see more of her friends and family, and do more freelance work. Margaret was offered to join Agrisell for the Langeberg region and did not hesitate to take on this new role. Agrisell is an extension of her skillset – networking, analyzing, organizing as well as a bit of entertaining. “I learn more about the intricacies of the property industry every day and love the challenge of living up to the trust that is placed on me.”
Margaret has an inborn sense of urgency, thrives on meeting and entertaining people, and enjoys classical and jazz music. She is an avid reader, walks in the hills whenever she can, and shares an interest in wine with many friends.
